Just Friends - Escorted Holidays for the single traveller Just Friends
your questions answered

We’ve listed here some of the questions we get asked most often by our clients. This is by no means an exhaustive list and our Just Friends travel advisors will be more than happy to discuss your requirements with you when you call.

1. Who is 'Just Friends' and is your company financially secure?
2. How many people will I be travelling with?
3. Do you set age ranges for these holidays?
4. What is the mix of male and female passengers?
5. Are these holidays suitable for everyone?
6. Can I fly from a different airport?
7. Will I need a passport or visa?
8. Complimentary coach travel – cruise holidays?

1. Who is ‘Just Friends’ and is your company financially secure?
Just Friends is brought to you by Travelscope, one of the UK’s largest independent tour operators. Travelscope is a fully bonded member of ABTA (the Association of British Travel Agents) Membership No. V5060, and is the holder of an ATOL licence (Air Travel Organisers’ Licence No. 4555) held with the Civil Aviation Authority. This means your money and your holiday are therefore perfectly safe when you book. In addition Travelscope are the holders of a licence with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and, in view of their large ocean and river cruising programme, are members of the Passenger Shipping Association.

2. How many people will I be travelling with?
This is the first question people ask and it’s a difficult one to answer. Group sizes are generally smaller than normal with a maximum of 30 people to as few as 12 on our holidays to Tresco in the Isles of Scilly. We need a minimum number of people to operate each tour so you will never be travelling alone.

3. Do you set age ranges for these holidays?
No, we don’t. We believe that a varied mix of ages encourages interesting conversation, the sharing of experiences and a better overall holiday experience.

4. What is the mix of male and female passengers?
Another good question. Our holidays are designed to appeal to all single travellers but, for whatever reason, women seem happier travelling solo than men so it is quite likely that there will be more women than men on some holidays, but not on every holiday.

5. Are these holidays suitable for everyone?
Our holidays are designed to appeal to single travellers with an average level of fitness and mobility. Most involve coach travel in the destination so you must be able to climb a few steps to get on and off the coach. We will do all we can to ensure that people of all mobility levels are able to enjoy our holidays and our advisors will happily discuss your personal circumstances to ensure you book a holiday that meets your needs.

Obviously our walking, cycling and skiing holidays require good mobility but they will suit anyone with a moderate level of fitness.

6. Can I fly from a different airport?
Our holidays are planned to depart from the airport(s) shown on each page but it may be possible for us to arrange flights from other regional airports on request. There may be an increase in the cost of your holiday if we do this. Please ask our advisors for more information.

7. Will I need a passport or visa?
A full ten year passport is required for all our holidays outside the UK. Application forms are available from your nearest Post Office. Please note that the Passport Office can take approximately 5-6 weeks to process a new passport application.

Visas are not required by British Citizens providing the passport bears the words “British Citizen” except for the following holidays: China, India. Information on applying for these visas is provided when you book and it is a relatively straightforward process.

Holidays to the USA: Citizens of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland may generally enter the USA through the Visa Waiver Programme provided that they have a machine readable passport. However, British Subjects and Subjects of UK dependent countries DO require a visa. If you have any doubt concerning your eligibility for the Visa Waiver Programme you must contact the United States Embassy. Our advisors will give you more information.

8. Complimentary coach travel – cruise holidays
On all of our Ocean Cruises we offer complimentary coach travel from over 400 pick-up points nationwide. This service may involve an early departure and, in order to accommodate as many passengers as possible, the coach will usually call at pick-up points after your own on its journey to the port of departure. All passengers on these coaches will be travelling with Just Friends or Travelscope.
