Around the world Itinerary

Day 1 Join your direct flight to LA, arriving the day of departure. Transfer to your hotel in Anaheim for a three-night stay.

Day 2 Today we include a half-day LA city tour, which takes in Hollywood and Rodeo Drive. You have this afternoon at leisure, or perhaps join our optional Universal Studios excursion.

Day 3 A day at leisure in Anaheim, or perhaps you’d like to join our optional excursion to San Diego and Temecula wineries.

Day 4 Starting our drive north along the fabled and rugged west coast of the USA, we head for an overnight stay in San Luis Obispo, a small Californian mission town at the midway point in our journey.

Day 5 Leave San Luis Obispo, for San Francisco. En route, visit Monterey and Carmel, as well as the famous 17 Mile Drive, where you can enjoy stunning coastal views. Check into your hotel for a two-night stay.

Day 6 An included San Francisco city tour, taking in the Golden Gate Bridge and artists’ colony of Sausalito, from where we return across the famous Bay by local ferry for tremendous views of the city.

Day 7 Join our optional tour to California’s stunning wine country with included tastings and a stop in the town of Napa. In the evening we will head for the airport for the overnight flight to Auckland in New Zealand.

Day 8 In flight, crossing the International Date Line. Please note: the actual flying time is about 13 hours.

Day 9 Arrive early morning in Auckland, and take an onward flight to Christchurch. On arrival, transfer to your hotel, enjoying a brief orientation tour of the city en route. Known as ‘The Garden City’, Christchurch is home to expansive parks and beautiful public gardens; perfect spots for relaxation.

Day 10 You have the day free to explore Christchurch, or perhaps take the unique opportunity to spend a full day whale watching in Kaikoura on an optional excursion. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot sperm, orca, minke or humpback whales.

Day 11 This morning, depart Christchurch and travel to Queenstown, via Mount Cook, stopping here for lunch (not included). See the Church of the Good Shepherd, on the shores of Lake Tekapo, on the way.

Day 12 Today is at leisure in Queenstown. Alternatively, join our full-day Milford Sound optional excursion. Situated within the Fiordland National Park, this is one of the most beautiful spots in New Zealand, surrounded by sheer rock faces and lush rainforests.

Day 13 Another day free for you to explore Queenstown. We offer a Lord of the Rings: safari of the scenes optional excursion today, enabling you to see the highlights of Queenstown, including locations used in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Or perhaps join the more leisurely Walter Peak cruise, and enjoy a scenic cruise and afternoon tea at the Colonel’s Homestead before seeing a farm show.

Day 14 Transfer to the airport for the short flight to Rotorua. You have the rest of the day free to explore your surroundings.

Day 15 This morning, we include a tour of Rotorua, taking in the Agrodome Farm Show, Paradise Valley Springs, Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve: a living Maori village, and the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. This evening, take advantage of our optional Hangi and Maori concert.

Day 16 Travel from Rotorua to Auckland, via Waitomo, with an included tour of the Waitomo Glow-worm Grottoes en route. On arrival in Auckland, we check in for an overnight stay.

Day 17 Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Auckland, which includes the summit of Mount Eden, Parnell Village, Auckland Domain and the War Memorial Museum (admission included), Victoria Park and Waterfront Drive. Evening transfer to the airport for the overnight flight to your next destination: Shanghai, China.

Day 18 Morning arrival in Shanghai. Visit the Bund, Shanghai’s famous shopping street, and the tree-lined promenade along the Huangpu River. You’ll also see the Yu Yuan Garden. Known as the ‘Garden of Contentment’, full of beautiful pagodas, bridges, ponds and classic Chinese rockeries. This afternoon is at leisure; perhaps visit the Jade Buddha Temple, which houses the Sitting Buddha and the Recumbent Buddha, both carved from whole white jade, or the Children’s Palace, where children of all ages are taught arts such as dancing and singing. This evening, why not join our one-hour Shanghai evening river cruise along the Pudong River.

Day 19 This morning, visit the ancient water town of Zhu Jia Jiao. This town has a history spanning back over 1700 years, and is regarded as the best preserved of the ancient towns in Shanghai. After visiting this fascinating suburb, continue to the airport for the short flight to Peking.

Day 20 Today we can enjoy a full-day tour of The Great Wall at Badaling and the Temple of Heaven.

Day 21 Join the included tour of Peking, taking in Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City and even a rickshaw ride. Early in the evening we will transfer to the airport for the flight to you next destination, Hong Kong.

Days 22 & 23 You have these days at leisure in Hong Kong. We offer a range of optional excursions you might like to take advantage of, including a Hong Kong Island tour, where you’ll start in the financial area of the city and take an exciting ride on the tram up Victoria Peak, continuing to Aberdeen with its famous fish market, and have time to take a stroll by the sea at Repulse Bay. There’s also a harbour cruise and dinner on offer, enabling you to take a leisurely cruise around Victoria Harbour, with buffet dinner, live music and dancing. Alternatively, take a tour of Kowloon and the New Territories, where sights include Buddhist statues in the bamboo-and-flower-shrouded Chuk Yam Sin Yen Monastery and Tai Mo Shan peak for excellent views over the territory.

Day 24 Transfer to Hong Kong airport for the return flight to the UK, arriving in the afternoon.
