Australia: the Great Ocean Road Itinerary

Day 1 Depart the UK for your overnight flight to Sydney, via Hong Kong.

Day 2 Morning touchdown in Hong Kong, before taking your onward flight to Sydney, arriving in the evening.

Day 3 Today is free to explore Sydney. Perhaps join our optional city and harbour tour, taking in all the main attractions, including the famous Bondi Beach.

Day 4 Enjoy another day free or join our optional Blue Mountains tour.

Day 5 Today we offer an optional Hunter Valley winery tour. Alternatively, spend time relaxing in the city.

Day 6 Transfer to the airport for your flight to Melbourne. Upon arrival, head to your hotel for a two-night stay. Enjoy free time this afternoon.

Day 7 We include a half-day sightseeing tour of Melbourne today. Visit the 18th century Cooks’ Cottage in Fitzroy Gardens, and pass many great attractions such as Melbourne University, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, National Gallery of Victoria and the City Square. You’ll then drive through the suburbs of Carlton and view its beautiful terraced houses. Back in the city, pass the Victoria Market, World Trade Centre and Melbourne’s Art and Cultural Centre.

Day 8 Today depart Melbourne and travel to Port Campbell, via the Great Ocean Road. Stop at Lorne for morning coffee, taking in the spectacular southern ocean scenery. Further along, detour from the coast road and, if we’re lucky, spot koalas in their natural environment. Arrive in Apollo Bay for lunch. This afternoon, continue to Otway National Park, a unique rainforest, full of majestic mountain ash, where you can learn about local aboriginal heritage. Continue to Port Campbell for an overnight stay.

Day 9 This morning, continue along the Great Ocean Road and see the rugged beauty of the shoreline. A real highlight of the tour, we’ll also pass the amazing Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and London Bridge. Try our Twelve Apostles scenic helicopter flight. Onwards to Warrnambool for lunch. Later, visit Tower Hill State Game Reserve, where we may see koala while learning about bush tucker, medicine and the indigenous history of the area.

Day 10 Travel through Coonawarra’s scenic winery region before continuing to the Naracoorte Caves. In the afternoon, explore Coorong National Park. You’ll then head to Hahndorf, a traditional German town in the Adelaide Hills.

Day 11 Explore Adelaide at leisure today. Perhaps join our optional tour of the wine region, the Barossa Valley or Kangaroo Island.

Day 12 This morning, join an early flight from Adelaide to Sydney, before taking an onward flight back to the UK.

Day 13 Early morning arrival in the UK.
