Best of China Itinerary

Day 1 Join the direct overnight flight to Shanghai.

Day 2 Morning arrival in Shanghai where you will transfer to your hotel for a one-night stay. Later we include a full-day tour, visiting the famous tree-lined shopping promenade on the banks of the Huangpu River, the Bund, and the Pearl TV Tower for incredible views of Shanghai city.

Day 3 This morning we include a visit to the Yu Yuan Garden, or ‘Garden of Contentment’. Afternoon flight to Peking for a three-night stay.

Day 4 Today we have included a full-day tour to the Great Wall at Badaling. Take in its sheer size and dimensions as you stroll along this ‘Wonder of the World’. There will also be a visit to the Ming Tombs, the burial place of thirteen emperors from the Ming Dynasty.

Day 5 An included full-day tour today to some of Beijing’s most famous attractions: Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, Peking Zoo to see the Giant Panda, and the Forbidden City. This evening you can join our optional excursion to the Peking opera.

Day 6 This morning, visit the Temple of Heaven, which dates back to the 15th century and is a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design. There’s also the opportunity to enjoy an optional Peking by rickshaw ‘Hutong’ tour. We then transfer to Beijing airport for the flight to Xi’an.

Day 7 Today we have a tour of the city of Xi’an to visit the Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi’s life-size army of 8,000 terracotta warriors and horses, which are over 2,000 years old. Our tour also takes in the Wild Goose Pagoda and city wall.

Day 8 Morning flight to Guilin, upon arrival you visit the Ancient South Gate before transfering to your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure.

Day 9 After breakfast, we take a cruise along the Li River to the scenic town of Yangshuo. This afternoon there is plenty of opportunity to experience Chinese rural life on a visit to some of the traditional villages in Yangshuo, while the evening brings the chance to join the fantastic optional Yangshuo light show.

Day 10 After breakfast we drive to Fubo Hill, Guilin, a wonderfully scenic spot rising above the Li River. We also visit the colourful Farmers’ Market. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for the flight to Shanghai.

Day 11 Transfer to Shanghai airport for the return flight to the UK.
