Day 1 Your holiday begins with selected coach pick-ups and a journey to port for the 7.35am Irish Sea crossing to Stranraer. Upon arrival, rejoin the coach for the journey to Newcastle for the 5.00pm overnight ferry crossing to Amsterdam with DFDS Seaways. Take advantage of the excellent on board facilities and perhaps enjoy a buffet dinner before retiring to your comfortable cabin for a good night’s rest.
Day 2 After disembarkation, our coach continues to your hotel in the German Black Forest. Arriving in the evening, you’ll enjoy a set three-course meal in the hotel’s restaurant, if you have pre-booked the package.
Day 3 Following breakfast, we visit Alsace’s capital Strasbourg, a historic French city with cobbled streets, pretty canals and fantastic Christmas markets that take place on famous squares such as Place Broglie, Place de la Cathédrale and Place Kleber, where a giant Christmas tree, known as ‘the king of the forest’ is planted every year. We travel next along the Alsace wine route, stopping at one of the picturesque old wine villages such as Ribeauvillé or Riquewihr. On arrival back at the hotel, those who have booked the meal package will enjoy a three-course dinner.
Day 4 After breakfast, we journey to the Black Forest town of Freiburg, where you are at leisure to explore the market in the town’s historical quarter. Then, crossing the border to Switzerland, we will arrive at the charming city of Basle. Enjoy the elegant boutiques and lively bars of the well-preserved Old Town and, of course, the city’s excellent Christmas market. After returning to the hotel, a three-course evening meal will again be served to those who have pre-booked the package.
Day 5 Following breakfast, take advantage of our optional Black Forest panorama excursion, taking in many of the highlights of this delightful region. Later on, enjoy a three-course meal in the hotel’s restaurant if you have pre-booked the package.
Day 6 After breakfast, board the coach for the return journey to port, arriving in time for the 6.00pm overnight sailing to Newcastle with DFDS Seaways.
Day 7 After disembarkation, rejoin the coach for the journey to Stranraer and the return 7.50pm Irish Sea crossing. Upon arrival you will be returned to your original point of departure.
