![]() Colonial Malaysia & a tropical beach itineraryDay 1: Join your direct flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Day 2: Arrive in Kuala Lumpur and transfer to you hotel. This afternoon enjoy a guided city tour visiting the Petronas Twin Towers, the Gate of the King’s Palace, the National Mosque and Royal Selangor Pewter Visitor Centre, National Monument and Cenotaph, and the Karyaneka Handicraft Centre. Day 3: Morning at leisure in Kuala Lumpur. In the afternoon take the beautifully scenic journey up into the Cameron Highlands. We’ll have a two-night stay here, during which time we include a sensational steamboat dinner, Malaysian style. Enjoy your dinner, cooked in a specially designed dish, placed over a gas-powered fire in the centre of the table. It’s filled with boiling stock, into which delicious seafood, meat, vegetables and noodles are placed and cooked. A variety of sauces are also included; a truly unique experience. Day 4: After breakfast, visit the amazing hillside market, passing tea plantations and vegetable gardens en route. You have the afternoon free to explore your surroundings. Day 5: Today we begin the stupendously scenic journey out of the Cameron Highlands via the impressive Penang Bridge, the third longest bridge in the world, to Penang. Witness the captivating scene, 1,829 metres above sea level surrounded by mist-wreathed mountains and overlooking green, terraced tea plantations, rolling hills and deep jungle. Popular as a highland retreat during British colonial rule, the countryside is still studded with old English country inns, chalets and Tudor cottages, which once fondly reminded the colonialists of home. Transfer to your hotel in Penang for a three-night stay. Day 6 & 7: Spend these days at leisure relaxing on the sun-soaked tropical beaches of Batu Ferringhi, or join an optional half-day Georgetown city & heritage tour. This evening, join our tour of Penang by night, which includes a rickshaw ride along the city’s waterfront. We also offer an optional panoramic hill & temple tour on one of these days. You’ll have plenty of time in Penang to discover the island’s many wonders. Check out the area around Batu Ferringhi at night, when the main road is transformed into an exciting bazaar. Day 8: Morning transfer to the airport, with onward flight to Heathrow arriving late evening.
