Join us on this six-day tour and travel through the Rhine Valley en route to the Black Forest, famous for cuckoo clocks and Black Forest Gateau, before heading into the heart of Switzerland.

Itinerary

Day 1 Journey to port for the crossing to Calais. On arrival, drive to Germany, arriving at Lake Wiesen for an overnight stop.

Day 2 Enjoy breakfast before travelling through the Black Forest; a land time forgot full of traditions and cuckoo clocks. Cross the border into Switzerland and Basle and arrive in the lakeside resort of Lucerne. A stroll across to the medieval bridge will ensure excellent views of Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus. Continue to Sachseln, where a warm welcome awaits at your hotel.

Day 3 You have today at leisure; alternatively, you may like to join our optional Interlaken & Grindelwald excursion. Take advantage of the wonderful shopping opportunities in Interlaken, beautifully located at the foot of the mighty Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains. You’ll continue to the picturesque village of Grindelwald, where you can take a Männlichen gondola (not included) up to Kleine Scheidegg for a delicious mug of steaming Swiss hot chocolate. Return to the hotel for an included night of folklore entertainment.

Day 4 A day free to explore your surroundings. You may like to join our glacier express optional excursion today; have the experience of a lifetime on this exciting train journey. Travelling past rich, peaceful forestry, mountain streams and deeply carved valleys, you’ll enjoy every minute of this adventure. Arrive back at your hotel in time for a typical Swiss fondue dinner.

Day 5 Following breakfast, leave Sachseln and head north to Bern, Switzerland’s scenic capital. Enjoy the charm of the covered arcades, cobbled streets and medieval architecture before continuing to Germany and Kehl (or similar) for an overnight stay.

Day 6 Drive north, past Strasbourg and through France for your evening crossing to Dover. Upon arrival in the UK, you will be transferred to your original pick-up point.

Please note Passengers from the north of England or Scotland will take the overnight ferry crossing, departing the day before and returning to their original departure point a day later.
