 Freiberg & The RhineWe will travel to Freiburg, which locals lovingly call ‘Germany’s Tuscany’.Located on the edge of the Black Forest and surrounded by vineyards, this beautifully preserved old town is dominated by the spectacular tower of its gothic cathedral. The Münsterplatz is one of Germany’s most beautiful cathedral squares and here you’ll find a host of tempting cafes and restaurants specialising in the local cuisine, as well as shops packed with regional produce including the sublime Black Forest Kirschwasser (cherry liqueur). On the same day we include a visit to the ancient Celtic town of Breisach on the River Rhine. Here you will have free time to admire the town’s two stunning Romanesque gates, as well as its typically German gothic cathedral.
