4* Gibraltar, Seville & the great Guadalquivir river cruise itinerary

Day 1 Seville Board your plane in London Stansted or Gatwick for your flight to beautiful Seville. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your vessel, the 4* MS Belle de Cadix, where you will enjoy a welcome cocktail followed by dinner on board. The evening is free for you to explore Seville, a delightful city synonymous with flamenco and bull fighting. Alternatively, transfer by coach to the historic city centre for a guided evening stroll. Overnight in Seville.

Day 2 Seville - Cádiz This morning after breakfast on board, join our optional city tour of Seville. Visiting all the historical landmarks of this wonderful city, you’ll experience its incredible Gothic cathedral, see the magnificent Torre del Oro (Gold Tower), visit the beautiful Alcazar Palace and gardens, and admire the stunning María Luisa Park. You’ll also have a chance to walk along the famous orange tree-lined streets of one of Seville’s old districts, Santa Cruz, with its characteristic cobbled walkways and flower-decked patios. Following lunch on board we will set sail along the Gualdaquivir, cruising past Doñana Park, considered a natural biosphere by Unesco and home to extraordinary wildlife, as well as Sanlúcar de Barrameda, before arriving in Cádiz. This evening, after dinner on board, join us for an esorted evening stroll around Cádiz. Berth overnight.

Day 3 Cádiz and the Rock of Gibraltar or Tangier Following breakfast, join our optional guided tour of Cádiz and Gibraltar or to Tangier. One of the largest ports in Spain, Cádiz offers intriguing Moorish architecture and typical narrow streets and plazas in its old quarter, along with a striking gold-domed cathedral. Later, board a coach and transfer to Gibraltar, The Rock. After lunch, join a guided tour of this unique landmass where you can enjoy sensational views of the Moroccan coastline (weather permitting). You can also admire the marvellous stalactites of St Michael’s Cave and enjoy the company of the Rock’s cheeky resident Barbary apes. Alternatively, if you choose the Tangier excursion, transfer to the White City by boat from Tarifa, where after lunch you’ll have the chance to explore its Medina, bustling souks and well-known Kasbah square, with its distinctive white marble columns. Back on board this evening, dinner is served and during the night we will sail for Alcoutim in the Algarve.

Day 4 Alcoutim (The Algarve) - Vila Real (Portugal) During breakfast this morning, we sail up river, past stunning country landscapes and rural villages, along the River Guadiana to charming Alcoutim, a typical Algarve village. After free time in Alcoutim and lunch on board, we’ll head to Vila Real de St Antonio. Enjoy free time in Vila Real exploring its town centre or relaxing on its glorious sandy beach, or join our optional excursion to the historic Portuguese city of Faro. This evening enjoy a Portuguese-themed evening with folklore entertainment while dining on board. Berth overnight.

Day 5 Vila Real (Portugal) - Sanlúcar de Barrameda After an early morning departure, enjoy breakfast and lunch on board as we cruise for the day along the picturesque Guadiana River into the Gulf of Cádiz, stopping in the afternoon at Sanlúcar de Barrameda. On arrival take advantage of our optional bodega and horse show excursion, taking you to a local sherry cellar (bodega) where Manzanilla, a traditional dry sherry, is produced. Later, enjoy a spectacular equestrian show, which highlights the wonderful horsemanship Andalucía is so famous for. Back on board this evening enjoy a Spanish-themed dinner, followed by an optional Flamenco evening. Sail overnight for El Puerto de Santa María.

Day 6 El Puerto de Santa María - Seville Arrive in Puerto de Santa María, where, after breakfast, you will have free time to explore its wonderful beaches or perhaps purchase a glass of its renowned sherry. Ask for a locally produced ‘fino’ a very light and dry sherry. After lunch on board, relax on the sun deck or join our optional excursion to Jerez, the sherry capital of Spain. The highlights of this panoramic tour include the exquisite Alcazar (palace) and cathedral, as well as a traditional ‘Ganadería’ (bull farm), where you will have the chance to learn all about this iconic creature of Spain. Back on board this evening, enjoy a gala evening as we sail back towards Seville

Day 7 Seville - Córdoba Arriving in Córdoba during the night, after breakfast, enjoy an optional guided tour of this beautiful Moorish city. Famous for the Mesquita, a remarkable mosque, with striking red and white arches, you’ll also have a chance to experience Córdoba’s delightful whitewashed townhouses and famous patios, flourishing with geraniums and the scent of jasmine, while you wander the narrow cobbled streets of its atmospheric Jewish quarter. This afternoon enjoy lunch in a local restaurant and further free time, before boarding your vessel for dinner and an evening at leisure.

Day 8 Seville Breakfast is served onboard while cruising to Seville. We will arrive around 9.00am, where you will disembark and transfer back to Seville airport for your flight back to the UK.
