![]() Goathland, Helmsley & PickeringThis excursion will take us to three of the most picturesque towns and villages in the North Yorkshire Moors. We begin with the beautiful village of Goathland, which is famous for being the main film location of the TV series 'Heartbeat'. Its railway station also has its own claim to fame as it was used as Hogwarts station in the Harry Potter films. Here you will have free time to explore the area. You may like to pay a visit to The Goathland Exhibition Centre, which has displays on all aspects of local life in the village. Next we make our way to the historic market town of Pickering, known as the official gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors. Visit the parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul to admire the medieval paintings which cover the walls. Alternatively you may wish to visit the railway station, home to beautifully preserved steam trains or simply relax in one of the many pubs and cafés. We will then journey on to the pretty market town of Helmsley, located at the foot of the Cleveland Hills. Popular attractions here include the Walled Garden, which has been restored to a fully working Kitchen Garden and is home to over 250 different varieties of clematis. You may also wish to visit the impressive ruins of Helmsley Castle which date back to the late 12th and 13th Centuries.
