Founded by the Romans some 2000 years ago, Cologne is the Rhineland capital and one of the most captivating cities in Germany. On this full day excursion you will have time at leisure to explore this historic city, famous for its magnificent 13th Gothic cathedral which took over 600 years to complete. Take a stroll through the narrow streets of the old town with its numerous lively bars and restaurants and sample the excellent local beer – Kolsch – in one of the many beer kellers. Chocolate lovers can head for the chocolate museum and the department stores and boutiques on the pedestrianised streets of the new town are a haven for shoppers.
