Coniston & Tarn Hows

Once owned and admired by Beatrix Potter herself, she entrusted this land to the National Trust to ensure its conservation. Featured in the Hollywood blockbuster, ‘Miss Potter’, it is a site of natural beauty and quiet serenity. Located north-west of Hawkeshead, it is a haven for red squirrels, now a dwindling population, where magnificent bracken, pine and larch-clad fells sweep panoramically down to the tranquil water of the Tarn, creating a truly beautiful scenic spot.
