This excursion will take you into the heart of the beautiful Pest country, to the wonderful market town of Gödöllö; home to the largest baroque palace in Hungary. Known as the ‘Versailles of Hungary’ this great palace was originally built for the aristocratic Grassalkovitch family and then given to Emperor Franz-Joseph and Empress Elisabeth on their coronation as sovereigns of Hungary. Lovingly restored, the palace’s interior bears witness to the presence of the royal couple with portraits, a porcelain service and objects belonging to the couple, while the 28 hectare park is home to great number of stags and wild boars.
