No visit to Holland would be complete without a visit to its cosmopolitan capital – Amsterdam. Discover for yourself this dazzling city with its cobbled streets, glorious architecture and famous canals. Admire the famous pieces of art in the many fascinating museums and galleries, or perhaps visit one of the diamond factories for which the city is world renowned. Be sure to experience Dam Square, in the city’s bustling centre, with its majestic Royal Palace and take advantage of Amsterdam’s excellent shopping opportunities, ranging from designer stores to enticing flea markets that are filled with bargains!
From Amsterdam, our tour continues through the most scenic sections of the fascinating Zuider Zee to the pretty old fishing village of Volendam with its picturesque harbour and quaint streets full of gaily-painted wooden houses. After time to explore, we will make our way to a clog maker and a traditional Dutch cheesemaker, where the cheese is made in time-honoured fashion. We will return to the hotel via Holland’s second largest dyke – an engineering miracle which helps to protect the low lying countryside from the ravages of the North Sea.
