Lake Windermere Cruise & Coniston Water

Lake Windermere, at 12 miles long, one mile wide and 220 feet deep, is the biggest natural lake in England and perhaps the most beautiful. Enjoy a 30 minute cruise from Bowness to Waterhead as well as free time in the Lake District town of Ambleside, one of the jewels of the Lakes set in the centre of the Lake District at the head of Lake Windermere. Buildings such as the 17th Century Bridge House, one of the smallest houses in Britain, and the Ambleside Museum (home to many Beatrix Potter artefacts) conspire to capture your attention.

Next we’ll visit Coniston Water, perhaps the best place to go boating in the entire Lake District National Park. Coniston Water lies in a peaceful wooded valley between Grizedale Forest and the high fells of Coniston Old Man, which at 2,633 ft gives mountain climbers one of the finest views over the Lake District.
