Rhine in Flames
DAY ONE:
Your holiday begins with selected early morning coach pick-ups for the journey to Dover/Folkestone for the 9.00am Channel crossing to Calais. We also offer overnight hotel accommodation close to port. On arrival we then continue travelling through France and Belgium to arrive at your hotel in Germany in time for your three-course evening meal if you have pre-booked the half-board package.
DAY TWO:
Late morning we depart for the included tour through the romantic Rhine Gorge to the scenic riverside town of Boppard. Thanks to its therapeutic salt-water springs, Boppard has become a popular health spa resort and is also famous for its top-quality wines produced from the surrounding vineyards which are the steepest in Germany. You will have time to explore the narrow streets and welcoming bars and restaurants of this attractive spa town that was founded by the Romans and has justifiably earnt its name of ‘The Pearl of the Rhine’. We then make our way to Rüdesheim, perhaps the most well known and popular of all the towns along the Rhine. Rüdesheim has built its reputation on its excellent white wines and welcoming atmosphere, best illustrated by taking a stroll along the Drosselgasse, the famous narrow lane lined with lively wine taverns and restaurants. During your visit to Rüdesheim you may wish to join our optional excursion to see the unique mechanical music collection at Siegfried’s Musik Kabinett followed by a wine tasting where you will sample the region’s excellent wines. From here we’ll travel by coach to the location of the ‘Rhine in Flames’ display, arriving in good time for you to soak up the carnival atmosphere and make the most of the festivities. Then enjoy the colourful, explosive displays across the water as the illuminations get under way. Arrival back at your hotel will be in the late evening.
DAY THREE:
Following breakfast join our optional excursion to Cologne which includes a river cruise. Arrival back at the hotel is in time for your three-course evening meal if you have pre-booked the half-board package.
DAY FOUR:
Depart the hotel after breakfast for the return journey through Belgium and France, arriving in Calais in time for the 6.30pm Channel crossing to Dover/Folkestone. Upon arrival you will be returned to your original pick-up point.
