Strasbourg & Alsace Wine Route

This excursion will take you to Alsace’s capital, Strasbourg. This historic French city boasts an intriguing mix of French and German influences, best seen in the many inviting cafés, patisseries and restaurants serving dishes that deliciously fuse German heartiness with French finesse. Wander through the cobbled streets of Petite France and you’ll find an area of old timbered houses and pretty canals to rival any in Venice or Bruges. The city’s cathedral stands proudly in the middle of a wide, cobbled square, lined with attractive restaurants and traditional Alsatian winstubs - a cross between a wine bar and a bierkeller. On leaving Strasbourg, you will travel along Alsace’s famous 'Wine Route' passing through wine villages such as Ribeauville or Riquewihr, situated snugly at the feet of the wooded Vosages mountains. There will be time to stop and explore the cobbled alleyways and picturesque streets of one of these villages, perhaps stopping for the light white wines or traditional local pottery.
