Pickering and Helmsley

This excursion will take you first to the historic market town of Pickering, known as the official gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors. Visit the parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul to admire the medieval paintings which cover the walls. Alternatively you may wish to visit the railway station, home to beautifully preserved steam trains or simply relax in one of the many pubs and cafés. We will then continue to the pretty market town of Helmsley, located at the foot of the Cleveland Hills. Popular attractions include the Walled Garden, which has been restored to a fully working Kitchen Garden and is home to over 250 different varieties of clematis. You may also wish to visit the impressive ruins of Helmsley Castle which date back to the late 12th and 13th Centuries or get a bite to eat in one of the pubs and cafés.
