 4* Scottish Highlands cruise & the Caledonian Canal itineraryDay 1 Fly to, or make your own way to Inverness by car or train from where we'll transfer you to Muir Town Locks. Board the MV Lord of the Glens in time for the Captain's welcome reception and dinner. Day 2 Relax on board, or join the optional excursion to Aviemore for the Strathspey Railway steam train journey to Boat of Garten. After lunch, we journey along the Caledonian Canal, passing Loch Dochfour, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, before arriving at Fort Augustus for dinner and our overnight stay. Day 3 Today, join our optional excursion to Urquhart Castle and the Drumnadrochit Visitor Centre, most famous for sightings of Nessie, the Loch Ness Monster. After lunch, we sail to beautiful Loch Oich and Loch Lochy and the small town of Banavie, situated in the shadow of Ben Nevis where we moor overnight. Day 4 Join our optional excursion to Glencoe and the Fort William Whisky Distillery. Following lunch, we descend 'Neptune's Staircase', an incredible series of eight inter-connected locks which lower the vessel to sea level at Corpach, near Fort William. Tonight enjoy the Captain's farewell reception and dinner on board. Day 5 Disembark after breakfast for the included transfer back to Inverness, where you can collect your car or travel to the train station or airport for your journey home. Please note: this cruise also operates in reverse, from Fort William to Inverness, on alternate dates. Should you wish to choose the self-drive option or travel by train please still continue to Inverness where we will arrange transfers from the Muir Town car park, train station (www.nationalrail.co.uk) and airport to the Lord of the Glens cruise vessel. Car parking is free at Muirtown Basin car park, full details will be despatched with your final tour information.
