Sample Budapest, the magical capital of Hungary where you’ll discover a city rich in history and culture and, finally, wander the narrow streets of Bratislava, capital of Slovakia, dominated by its ancient castle overlooking the Blue Danube. Enjoy the friendly atmosphere of this week-long cruise, full of variety, interest and spectacular scenery.

MS Emerald

Cabins have been exclusively reserved for Just Friends passengers aboard MS Emerald. The vessel offers comfortable cabins with private facilities, a lounge bar and restaurant. All Just Friends passengers have their own cabin.

Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Linz where you will meet your Just Friends tour leader and fellow travellers. Travel by coach to Grein where you board the MS Emerald. A welcome drink will be served on arrival before a three-course welcome dinner.

Day 2: Cruise to Melk for an excursion to the renaissance Shallaburg Castle and the baroque city of St Polten, Austria’s oldest town dating back to Roman times. Rejoin the vessel in Tulln.

Day 3: Cruise the Blue Danube to Nussdorf for a visit to the capital of Slovakia, Bratislava. Take time to visit the National Museums or explore the Primate’s Palace where Napoleon and Emperor Franz I signed the 1805 peace treaty.

Day 4: An early start for your visit to the vibrant city of Budapest, sure to be a highlight of the cruise. You will discover many of the city’s sights including Castle Hill, the Royal Palace and the Fisherman’s Bastion.

Day 5: Cruise to Korneuburg for an excursion to the beautiful city of Vienna where you will get an insight into the city’s fascinating past through its impressive buildings, including the home of Johann Strauss, the State Opera and Vienna Boys’ Choir.

Day 6: Cruise to Krems, regarded as the wine capital of the region, and visit Durnstein where Richard the Lionheart was captured and held prisoner during the Crusades, and Melk, famous for its beautiful Benedictine abbey.

Day 7: Leave the vessel after breakfast and visit the lovely town of Steyr for an en route visit before continuing to Linz for the flight back to the UK.
