Be inspired as you soak up the view from the city limits to the foothills of the Alps, enclosing a myriad of little villages and vine-clad slopes. Day two Today, you can join our included city tour of Vienna and its Christmas markets. This tour includes taking in the principal monuments of Vienna, which are largely situated on the famous Ringstraße; a circular road surrounding the inner district of Vienna, created by Emperor Franz Joseph to replace the city walls. See the Hofburg Palace, home of the Spanish Riding School, Vienna Boys’ Choir and the treasury which is filled with an abundance of sparkling jewels and priceless heirlooms of imperial proportions. You can also view the magnificent world-class Opera House, the first building to be completed on the ring which debuted Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and the Town Hall, where free time will be given at the market. Surrounded by beautifully decorated trees, this is Vienna’s classic market. This afternoon, head for the Schönbrunn Palace. This monument provides a spectacular setting for the city’s Christmas village, with the delicious aroma of hot mulled wine and gingerbread wafting in the air. The spirit of Christmas truly comes to life in this wonderful setting. Day three You have today at leisure to explore your surroundings, or simply relax in your wonderful hotel. Alternatively, join the optional tour to explore the enchanting and beautiful Vienna Woods. Day four Enjoy an included city tour of Bratislava and its Christmas Markets today*. Head to the old town square, home to the traditional Christmas stalls. Try the delicious lokše, potato crepes or stop at one of the cafes in the square for their mouth watering cream cakes.
